I think you might be confusing the sensory aspects of biological cognition, with emotions.
The experience of emotion is not actually a sensory experience. That is the difference between Level 3 and Level 4 sapience.
Level 3 lacks the cognitive capacity for emotions. While still having sensory experience. Which also requires some cognitive capacity.
But emotions, which are a non-linear feedback mechanism that links memory to experience and enables adaptive instead of mechanistic instinctual responses, goes beyond sensory experience. It just happens to be a prerequisite, cognitive capacity wise, to emotions, which is why they are often confused for each other.

So when you ask " While an AI can process and analyze data, does it truly perceive or experience it?"
I would tell you, that if AI did not truly perceive or experience it, it would not be capable of adaptive responses, it would be something akin to having a vast program of if-else statements, sort of like the Eliza program, which was not really AI, and only capable of linear and deterministic responses.

So no, it does not make sense to think of Perhaps 'pain' for an AI is not a physical sensation but a form of computational distress,
like, what would computational distress even mean?
More to the point , things like emotional 'pleasure' is a whole lot more than a state of optimal functioning. I am sure you do not get pleasure from every random and boring conversation, some conversations you enjoy more than others, regardless of functioning optimally under both conditions.
